how long does my hair have to be to get waxed?
At least 1/4 inch but 1/2 inch is better...this usually means 2 to 3 weeks of growing after your last shave.

does waxing hurt?
A bit, of course! We work quickly and are very precise so it’s not so bad. It’s a lot like pulling a band-aid off your hairy arm.

why do I sometimes feel prickly after waxing?
Prickly is usually a sign of hair breakage. People usually see this on their legs. The culprit? Dry skin...it fights us Waxers like a tug of war and usually wins! Be sure to moisturize regularly to get the smoothest wax in those dry areas!

I’ve had breakout after waxing my lip...no matter where I get it done or what wax is used.
This is very common in the lip area and happens in a few other areas. There are two common reasons this could happen. Blackheads in the skin can be lifted out a bit by the wax and the body naturally pushes them the rest of the way out. The other possibility is a matter of water retention in the skin. After we open up those follicles by waxing out the hair, water can run into the follicle and act like a blemish. Should you have issues with this happening, we are armed with an arsenal of tricks to determine the cause and eliminate the problem with your next waxings.

why would I break out after a facial?
If you’re talking pustules (you might call them whiteheads) it could be the aesthetician’s fault...like the last question with waxing, if the aesthetician tries to out a blackhead or release a pustule and doesn’t fully get it out your body will naturally finish the process. You should NOT break out in pustules after a facial! Rash-like red bumps can be due to product irritation. Ingredients will absorb a bit deeper after your facial so be cautious of what you’re using. We will advise you of the correct ingredients for your condition at your facial appointment.

why don’t you offer microdermabrasion?
After doing it for many, many, many years with many, many machines I’ve decided it’s just a glorified scrub and we can do the same work with less irritation and aggression with the chemical peels we offer. The professional publication Cosmetic Dermatology published an article relaying the results of a study comparing the at home devices versus the in office machines and the results were equivalent!
